The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), in collaboration with Simplyhealth, has introduced a new tool aimed at helping organisations enhance the effectiveness of their health and wellbeing strategies.

This tool, which takes the form of a simple quiz, is designed to assist HR professionals in evaluating their current wellbeing offerings and identifying areas for improvement.

The need for such a tool has become increasingly apparent, as highlighted in the CIPD’s annual Health and Wellbeing at Work report, also supported by Simplyhealth. The report underscores a growing emphasis on holistic employee wellbeing across various sectors. However, it also reveals that many organisations are not fully realising the potential benefits of their wellbeing investments.

Assessing Wellbeing Strategies

The new tool prompts users to answer a series of questions about their organisation’s existing health and wellbeing strategies. These questions encourage reflection on the effectiveness of current initiatives, helping organisations to pinpoint gaps and opportunities for improvement. Additionally, the tool offers benchmarking against industry standards and provides tailored recommendations for optimising wellbeing approaches.

Rachel Suff, Senior Policy Adviser for Employee Relations at the CIPD, emphasised the importance of refining these strategies. “There are several areas where organisations could finetune their approach to health and wellbeing, including a stronger focus on evaluating the impact of initiatives, improving line manager capability, and integrating wellbeing support throughout the employee lifecycle,” Suff explained.

The quiz-based tool is intended to be a practical resource for HR professionals looking to enhance their organisation’s wellbeing offerings. By identifying specific areas for improvement, the tool can help organisations achieve a better return on their wellbeing investments, ensuring that their initiatives are both effective and sustainable.
