The inaugural Introverted Leaders Conference is set to take place in London later this year, offering a platform for introverted professionals to explore their strengths and enhance their leadership skills.

This event, conceived by Carol Stewart, founder of Abounding Solutions and author of “Quietly Visible: Leading with Influence and Impact as an Introverted Woman,” will occur at IS Venues in central London on Friday, 13 September 2024.

Celebrating Introverted Leaders

For many years, introversion has been associated with negative traits such as shyness and being antisocial. However, successful introverts like Gareth Southgate, Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama, and JK Rowling demonstrate that introversion can be a powerful asset. The Introverted Leaders Conference aims to dispel misconceptions and highlight the unique qualities that introverts bring to leadership roles.

Carol Stewart remarked, “For years society has drummed in the message that there are more advantages to being an extrovert but why? There are great strengths to being introverted. Introverts tend to be better listeners, think before they speak, possess excellent observation skills, are thoughtful networkers, and compassionate leaders.”

Conference Highlights and Activities

The conference will feature a series of seminars and masterclasses on various topics, including “My Journey as an Introverted Leader” and “How to Be an Ally for Introverted Leaders.” Attendees will hear from inspirational speakers such as Alexandra Bond Burnett and Cherron Inko-Tariah MBE. The event will also provide dedicated quiet spaces for attendees to recharge.

This conference is designed for introverts who feel overlooked or underestimated, as well as employers who wish to better understand and utilise the talents of introverted employees in a society often geared towards extroverts.

Carol Stewart emphasised the importance of recognising the strengths of introverts in the workplace, stating, “It’s important to note that there is not just one valid way of being (extroverted) but two and that introverts also have strengths that will help a business. Or to borrow a quote from Gandhi: ‘In a gentle way you can shake the world.’”
